2 more minutes to christmas and i just have a little summary of today!

(in fact, 2 mins have passed and it's xmas already so merry christmas all!)

Today was spent having mac bfast with ree, taking granny to the temple plus lunch, mahjonging, pizza-ing, snack shopping, buy-momsy-a-bag,  and WTO-ing!)

Mahjong is shiokerdoos because what are the odds of wining a 7台 自摸 game!

snapped a picture of it for proof! btw i'm flower number 2!

what's more shiok is that right after this big win, i won a 5台 game hehehe!

after all these MJ madness, part of the winnings were used to order pizza for my stinking brother and me for dinner! yumm.

and last item for this entry, in the spirit of christmas, here's a picture of my christmas tree!

looks so happy with all the presents under the tree but sadly only the ang pow is mine! given by me granny :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL !!!!

IT'S CAKE TIME ~ especially for [info]adfirmatiosg, because she can have her cake and eat Ohno too lasjdl;adj

but in celebration of the gyoza finally having selected an ichiban... )

i was going through my archive of arashi stuff, and no matter how much of an epic fail 2009 has been, the past couple of years really made up for it. i am thankful for: this and this. they may be material things or silly to others, but really mean a lot to me. for someone who has never had the chance to go for a single concert, i am most thankful for you lovelies who brought part of the concerts back to me. this could be the emoes about missing 5x10 this year, or the christmas bug infection, but i love all of you muchly. real life is crazy but fandom is well, fandom. so you guys really do keep me sane.

for those who need to keep warm, please do. for those who needs to stay dry from the rainy season, don't forget your brollies. stay safe, happy christmas!

This late morning...

I walked to work and saw a kite soaring high above, carried effortlessly by the turbulent stormy winds, a dark silhouette against the greyish sky...

---

This late afternoon...

I walked to the train station and a kite soared, banked, weaved and swooped about 20m above me. I stood there for five minutes admiring its brown plumage tinged copper-gold in the late afternoon sun against a clear blue sky...

Vegetarian shark's fin soup

Vegetarian shark's fin soup )

I'm tempted to take a day when I have time to cook this version of the shark's fin soup (or any other shark's fin soup BASE without the fins), coerce my parents into eating it, and then weaning them off eating or ordering shark's fins any time we go to a Chinese restaurant.

The last time I told them not to order, I got scolded.

Time for a second try.

I just started my third week working part-time at Sacred Space.

Today, my boss gave me a packet of loose white sage leaves.

Yay. =)

Berries or Mint?

  • Dec. 14th, 2009 at 11:00 PM
Christmas came early this year as i was presented with my xmas gift today!

It's a set of tea leaves from TWG and the packaging is so neat! There are 2 cylindrical tubes in the box, the first tube containing vanilla+caramel flavoured tea leaves and the second containing the berries flavoured leaves.

Both smells so fragrant and drinking tea goes well with reading books!

Then i thought about the talks i have with xqq about appreciating the finer things in life like having tea, looks like it's coming to realisation now.

Thanks smelly!

second HM.

Before starting on this entry, i went back to read my entry on the 2008 SCSM. Like this year, i did the half marathon (HM).

Thinking back, i have faint memories of an enjoyable time, having a party at 16km with bananas, drinks and powergel. The distance didn't seem daunting and i completed the race without worrying about the timing.

This year, the experience is just, ordinary.

Being my 2nd time attempting this distance, i already have an idea of what to expect during the race, and most importantly, POST race.
The day after is usually hell-ish, having to hobble, limp, stagger up and down the stairs, it's like a nightmare! (cannot imagine how the legs would be like after a full marathon, and if i do attempt it, i will tell you then.)

Spent saturday wondering if i should go for the event, sms-ed agnes and realised she's doing the HM too! I haven't done much training since GE in nov, so i know i won't be in a good form for the half marathon.
The morning of sunday came, i woke up as planned and headed to board the bus at serangoon stadium. Like last year, i ran towards the stadium as i was almost late!

Anyway the race route was ok, slightly boring, too many u-turns and the last 2 KMs seemed the hardest. I tried to keep track of time (resulting in another watch tan - i JUST managed to get rid of it but now it's back) in order to finish in a not-that-long time. Since jo and i took 3 hr 15 mins last year, and now that i'm doing it alone this year, i gave myself 15 mins more. I aim to complete the HM in 3 hr 30mins.

When the time drew nearer to 3 hr 30 mins, i was near the end point but not-that-near. So i said, perhaps, an auspicious timing of 3 hour 33 mins would be nice. and indeed, when i saw the end point, i ran towards it, completing the half mara in 3 hr 33 mins!

Took quite long i'd say, but at least it adds one more medal to my total medal tally :)

Post race, some aches in my right hems but slapping on salonpas certainly felt shiokerdoos! Didn't ache as much as i thought i would, perhaps there is more to come when i do the 50km walk on the 18th!

More kites/eagles

Saw either a brahminy kite or a white-bellied sea eagle today, barely ten meters away, in the water having caught a fish in its claws. Then it spread it wings wide, and then took off.

It was absolutely beautiful.
